I have been one acquainted with the night.
I have walked out in rain - and back in rain.
I have outwalked the furthest city light.

I have looked down the saddest city lane.
I have passed by the watchman on his beat
And dropped my eyes, unwilling to explain.

I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet
When far away an interrupted cry
Came over houses from another street,

But not to call me back or say good-bye;
And further still at an unearthly height,
One luminary clock against the sky

Proclaimed the time was neither wrong nor right.
I have been one acquainted with the night.

That is one of Robert Frost poem name Acquainted With The Night. This poem tell about a man in who acquainted with the night. The setting was held in a city which he live in. This poem consist with 5 stanza with 4 triplet stanzas and in the last one is couplet stanza.

A. Summary

At first, the speaker told that he has been acquainted with the night. He said that he has gone around the city, either rain or not in the night. Then when he look around the city he met with a guard which wanted him to go away without telling. After that, he stopped his walk when he hear a cry which came from house in another street. He still stood up more than one hour there and then he realized that he has acquainted with the night.
